Definitions
Definition of technology:
Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments. The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. Technology has affected society and its surroundings in a number of ways. In many societies, technology has helped develop more advanced economies (including today's global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. (Wikipedia)
Instructional technology:
In education, instructional technology is "the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning," according to the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Definitions and Terminology Committee.[1] Instructional technology is often referred to as a part of educational technology but the use of these terms has changed over the years.[2] While instructional technology covers the processes and systems of learning and instruction, educational technology includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability.
The first use of instructional technology cannot be attributed to a specific person or time. Many histories of instructional technology start in the early 20th century, while others go back to the 17th century. This depends on the definition of instructional technology. Definitions that focus on a systems approach tend to reach further back in history, while those definitions focused on sensory devices are more recent. (Wikipedia)

Educational technology:
Educational technology (also called learning technology) is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. The term educational technology is often associated with, and encompasses, instructional theory and learning theory. While instructional technology covers the processes and systems of learning and instruction, educational technology includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability. Educational Technology includes, but is not limited to, software, hardware, as well as Internet applications and activities. But there is still debate on what these terms mean
Educational technology is most simply and comfortably defined as an array of tools that might prove helpful in advancing student learning. Educational Technology relies on a broad definition of the word "technology". Technology can refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines or hardware, but it can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. Some modern tools include but are not limited to overhead projectors, laptop computers, and calculators. Newer tools such as "smartphones" and games (both online and offline) are beginning to draw serious attention for their learning potential.

Is Google making us stupid?
Is Google making us stupid?
Before addressing the question as to whether Google is making us stupid, I think it is easier to highlight some things that Google is definitely doing to society. Firstly, Google (and similar search engines) is certainly making us more efficeint. For example, a student doing research for a paper has much more information at his fingertips through Google instead of having to go to the library. Another example like researching a vacation is much easier using Google than traditional methods. Secondly, Google is definitely making us more lazy. We rely on it for so many things now; life is unimaginable without it.
Now to the main question: Is Google making us stupid. I think that there are two conflicting dynamics here. First, there is an argument that people will totally lose the ability to read books and longer articles in a traditional way due to lacking concentration. In other words, people stop thinking the way they used to think, because search engines like Google provides the answer to almost every question within seconds. Second, there is so much information available in a categorized manner that Google may actually allow people ability to learn more aboy a particular subject. One of the other arguemnts is that Google may actually make us all think and learn the same things because of the way in which Google's search algorithms categorize thinks and therefore influence our learning.
It is a very difficult question to answer. There are pros and cons to both sides of the argument. On balance, I tend to feel that the disciplined person can use Google to his/her advantage to actually make them smarter. It is the undisciplined person that will be made "stupider" by Google.

How People Learn and what might technology have to do with it
Technology integration in schools is not easy to achieve, no matter how much evidence we have that it can help learning.
We know that technology sometimes is expensive, apart from that, sometimes is tiring and confusing for some people who is starting to using them.
1. LEARNING OCCURS IN CONTEXT
Technology can help students and teachers to solved complex problems.
Students can watch videos and these can make them to understand a subject easily . For example, if the teacher is talking about the human body students can watch a video where it shows the parts of a human body.
2. LEARNING IS ACTIVE
Some tools like a computer, DVD and a radio can make easier the process of learning, for example teachers can use a power point presentation for explaining her lesson.
3. LEARNING IS SOCIAL
We as teachers know that working is groups can help students to solve complex activities and problems but, how can modern technologies support and enhance these connections? Students can feedback each other using the technology though a social red like forums and emails.
4. LEARNING IS REFLECTIVE
It is important that students can analyze their own effort and learning, as well, get a feedback from the teacher and let the students once again analyze their work. Students can feedback in and out from classes by emails.
To conclude, technology helps everybody but we need to know how to use itin order to make the learning process dinamic and easy.

Hi everyone!
Hi everyone. My name is Evelyn Gonzales Orellana. I am a student of English Teaching and Translation at ULACIT University. My expectations for this course are very high because, as we all know, over time the techniques used for teaching have changed and technology has become an important tool that teachers can use to make their job more simple. Teaching children is very different from teaching adults but technology always makes the learning process more dynamic and fun. This is why I want to learn as much as posible from this course.
